I am a big fan of AAR cuda, I know all about her trans am racing and specifications, I have tons of pictures on my computer, sounds everything.........but one day i was on
www.historictransam.com and i found something about aar cuda europe racing........
http://www.historictransam.com/Drivers/RandyPeterson.htm ""After completing the 1970 season, the car was returned to Chrysler and
was
successfully raced in Europe.""
I sent email to historictransam but i dont get any answer so i sent the same email to aar registry. They sent me this answer:
"""The AAR you are referring to was on eBay back in April 2003 and showed up
this year fully restored at the world famous Barrett-Jackson auction.
The 2003 Ebay auction had the following description:
"1970 AAR Cuda TransAm Racecar. Built by Dan Gurney All American Racers.
This car was built from a body in white. This is the 3rd car built of the
three team cars. It ran after the 2nd team car was crashed by Swede Savage.
This was the last car that Dan Gurney drove before his retirement after the
Riverside TransAm race in 1970. After the 1970 TransAm season the car was
sent to Europe where it ran at LeMans. (Refer to attached photo. Yellow &
Black Car #65) It also won 2 European championships driven by Harry Chemin.
The car was in Europe from 1971 until I shipped it back to the U.S. earlier
this month 04 / 03. The car is currently painted red and white and is as it
last raced at a vintage race in 1992. I have a substantial amount of
documentation for the car including a letter from Chrysler documenting its
transfer from the U.S. to Chrysler in Europe. If you are seriously
interested and would like more information about the car or would like to
make an appointment to view it, please call me, Randy Peterson, at (707)
974-8061.""""
Here on transamcuda i get this email:
"""Yes actually I do a little about the car. However I
dont really know much about the car when it was in France or England. I know
the car was sold last year to a guy name dRandy peterson who restored the
car back to its original form when it was a Dan Gurneys car. The car
recently was put up for auction at Barrett Jackson and Craig Jackson
actually wound up buying the car. I have been told by Gary Savage that when
the car was in France it hit incredible speeds with the Hemi in it but wasnt
competitive as the Hemi didnt hold up well. Heres a few lines from an email
I got from Garay Savage about the car.
"The spare car #3 chassis is the one that is in England or somewhere in
Europe. After the '70 season, it was sent over to France, had a hemi put in
it and ran it at LeMans in '71-72. Of course, the hemi never lasted 24
hours, but it is rumored that they clocked the 'Cuda at 190 MPH down the
Mulsane straight. I can believe it, as I've had our car up to 160 MPH with
a 4.11 rear end and a small block. I've had our stock bodied '73 Challenger
Petty Kit car up to 180 MPH at Daytona and that's with no front spoiler.
Kinda wild! Anyway, I hope that helps a bit. If you have any other
questions, just fire away! Take it easy. "
On my web board there is a guy who goes by GURSAVSKI he has alot of
knowledge on these cars and could probably help you out a little bit. Heres
the link to the board."""
What do you know about lemans racing with AAR cuda and what were those 2 European championships that cuda won?
